Iran not directly engaged in Mosul liberation

Head of Iran's Strategic Research Center said it is absolute policy of Islamic Republic to support legitimate governments and oppressed people of the region including Iraq and Syria.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Ali Akbar Velayati who also serves as the Secretary-General of the Global Assembly of Islamic Awakening said “the holding of the 9th meeting of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council in Baghdad is an indication of the serious determination to fight terrorism and support region’s oppressed people.”
“Backing legitimate governments of the region like Iraq and Syria remains as Iran’s absolute policy and the supports have been delivered in the form of political advisory or at the request of these governments,” highlighted the official expressing hope that the terrorist and their supporters will be defeated.
Leader’s senior advisor once more reiterated that Iran has no direct military presence in Mosul liberation project adding that during five years of fighting against Takfiri movements and atrocious terrorists as well as their supporters, Iran has always stood on the side of regional states; “the coincidence of Mosul liberation operation and the presence of scholars of the Islamic world in Iraq at the invitation of Iran is an indication of political support which helps establish an integrated campaign with an emphasis on Islamic commonalities by avoiding tensions.”
“The event marks a clear message to Takfiri movements and their supporters as well as a number of reactionary countries of the region.”
Velayati went on to recall that the 8th meeting of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council was hosted by Tehran while the 9th edition of the event will open on Saturday October 22 in Iraq with Ammar al-Hakim, the leader of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, as the host.
The official voiced optimism that the meeting will be effective in line with creating unity among the Islamic Ummah and a comprehensive fight against roots and causes of conspiracy and sedition in the region.
Ali Akbar Velayati will officially open the 9th meeting of the Islamic Awakening Supreme Council which will be attended by prominent figures of the Islamic world. The event marks the first ever meeting of the council to be held out of Iran and will be held on October 22-23 at the invitation of the Iraqi government.
Iran’s Velayati, Secretary-General of the Global Assembly of Islamic Awakening, has recently held separate meeting with The President of Iraq Fuad Masum and the Head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq Ammar Hakim who hosts this edition of the meetings.
