Azerbaijani State Security Service sacks over 500 employees

More than 500 employees of the Azerbaijani State Security Service (SSS) have been removed from duty since early 2016, Madat Guliyev, head of the service, told reporters in Baku Dec. 12.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in respect of over 20 fired employees, Guliyev noted.

“This is a natural process. Because, the service is undergoing recovery process,” he added.
