The People’s Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic elected its Speaker during its inaugural session held on 12 July 2026, marking the resumption of parliamentary activities following a prolonged period of legislative suspension under the new administration.
On this occasion the Secretary General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly extended his warm congratulations to H.E. Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Awak on his election as Speaker of the People’s Assembly of Syrian Arab Republic
