APA Economic Committee concluded its two-day meeting in Manama

APA member parliaments gathered in Manama, the capital city of Bahrain on 08-09 December thoroughly deliberated and exchanged views on several issues of crucial importance to Asia in their annual meeting of the Standing Committee on Economic and Sustainable Development.
The two-day event chaired by Ahmed Sabah Al Salloum, an MP representing Bahrain Council of Representatives, in his capacity as Vice-President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, discussed and decided on several key issues in its agenda in an interactive session.
The Committee also was assigned to exchange views and take decisions on the amendments proposed by a good number of delegations to update the draft resolutions under consideration for parliamentary cooperation and further enhancement of economic situation in Asia.
Delegations representing 18 APA member parliaments exchanged their experiences, expertise approaches and shared their visions as part of the efforts to enhance cooperation among Asian nations on economic and sustainable development issues for a better future for Asia in the course of their deliberations
The issues under the draft resolutions before the Committee included:
Establishing an Asian energy market, environmental issues, ensuring efforts for Asian economic growth, poverty eradication, the role of APA parliaments in supporting the implementation of sustainable development goals, water and sanitation in Asia for all, the adoption of a roadmap providing for measures to stimulate green finance and the Asian climate Finance initiative.
The participants also had the opportunity to discuss about the APA basic documents and make consultations on the future programs of the APA at separate sessions alongside the APA Committee Meeting in Manama.
