APA Secretary General’s Address at The World Conference on Youth Rights "Engaging Youth in Global Action"
In a video message addressed to the World Conference on Youth Rights, APA Secretary General shared his views on young people as driving force for future development.
Addressing at the opening session of the Conference, APA Secretary General, Dr. Majidi thanked the organizers of the event for their welcome initiative to hold this Conference.
Dr. Majidi said” More than half of the global population is under 30 years age who have the highest share in today’s action . This resourceful wealth has great capacity to contribute to efforts needed to tackle global issues.”
He continued” Young generation should be considered as the driving force behind each and every country’s sustainable development. Therefore, policy makers should invest in improving mental and physical health and the nutrition of the builders of tomorrow’s society”.
In another development, APA Secretary General referred to the ongoing global pandemic as the most devastating crisis which has deprived young people from certain valuable opportunities and desperately limited quality and levels of their access to education and skill development.
Dr. Majidi ended his remarks by calling this conference and similar events at regional and international levels as appropriate platforms for exchange of views to address challenges facing young generation.
The two day event organized at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent, Uzbekistan with the support of the international community, attended by representatives of more than 30 foreign countries to exchange views on how to get youth engaged in global action.
The opening of the event was addressed by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights M. Bachelet, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union M. Chungong and heads of other international organizations.
Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on vulnerable youth groups was comprehensively considered at this Conference as part of its work in the plenary and parallel sessions to highlight participation of youth in the development of their countries.
Also measures to stimulate youth opportunities to receive quality education, and employment in production, participation of boys and girls in decision-making that affect their lifestyle were among other related issues addressed by participants. The outcome document of this Conference is a Declaration on the involvement of youth in global action.
