Constituencies | 135 single-member "territorial" constituencies. |
Voting system | Majority: Majority vote in two rounds. In each constituency, at least 33 of the electorate must participate for the poll to be valid and candidates are declared elected if they obtain more than 50 of the votes cast. Should one of these conditions be missing, a second round of elections takes place between the two leading candidates; a simple majority then suffices. Vacancies arising between general elections are filled through by-elections. Voting is not compulsory.
