Parliamentary Diplomacy for Peace in Palestine received full support of APA Coordinating Meeting in Geneva

The IPU delegations representing APA member parliaments in Geneva once again displayed their solidarity and unwavering concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza Strip.

Convened in Geneva at the invitation of the APA Secretariat on the sidelines of the 148 IPU Assembly, participants at this event voiced out their full support for the emergency item co-proposed by Indonesia and Malaysia as two APA members on the humanitarian disaster unfolded in the besieged enclave.

Chaired by Her Excellency Ms. Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis in her capacity as APA President, participants from 18 APA member parliaments strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s acts of genocide and mass killings of the innocent people of Palestine.

In her opening remarks, the Chair touched on the APA Resolution adopted in support of convening of the APA Coordinating Meeting on the sidelines of the IPU Assemblies for further deepening of cooperation and coordination on important international issues of mutual interest. 

She then referred to the vital importance of parliamentary diplomacy highlighting global trends aimed at expanding the activities of interparliamentary organizations, as part of the role to be underlined. by the APA as the significant platform for strengthening parliamentary diplomacy.

The meeting then took note of the report delivered by the APA Secretary General, Dr. Majidi who elaborated activities of the APA Secretariat since its previous consultation Meeting in Luanda, Angola, and the programs to be pursued in the coming future.
Finally, the participants condemned the recent terrorist attack in Moscow and expressed their deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those killed and all affected by this heinous crime.
